Gospel-Driven Godliness and Church Leadership, Part 11
In 1:5-16, Paul explains why Titus’ appointment of qualified leadership (vv. 5-9) and opposition to unqualified leadership (vv. 10-16) in the Cretan churches is so important, namely because there are many false teachers in Crete turning people away from the centrality of the gospel (1:11, 14). In order to help Titus and the churches recognize and oppose ungodly leadership, Paul gives 12 characteristics of false teachers and 2 action steps to take in order to prevent them from harming the church.

Resurrection Benefits: Our Justification Romans 4:23-25
Easter 2013
There is really no option to think of Jesus as only a good teacher with good teachings. His claim to be God and his claim to resurrection forces the issue: was Jesus God, or was He a nut job?
He Was Raised For Our Justification
How can I—a complete unrighteous, condemned criminal—become the righteousness of God? Paul gives the answer in Romans 4:25. In v. 25, Paul sets forth the two great truths of the gospel, by which all who believe will be counted righteous. The two great truths are: (1) Cross: Christ was delivered over because of our sins; (2) Resurrection: Christ was raised for our justification. The answer to our dilemma is found in Christ’s death and resurrection. Through Jesus’s death and resurrection, the two greatest obstacles, sin and death, which stand between sinners and a holy God, have been dealt with forever.
