Sermons About Justification
The Doctrine of Adoption (Galatians 4:1-7)
Adoption gives us the deepest insight into what it means to be a Christian, and into the greatness of God's love for us. We cannot understand our salvation any better than we understand adoption. While justification is the most important and foundational aspect of Christianity, adoption is the greatest and highest experience of the Christian life. In our adoption, we experience God's closeness, affection and generosity. We are challenged to grow in our awareness of God's real love for us as an adoptive Father.

Living in Line with the Gospel
False gospels produce pride and fear which destroy community. The gospel (we are accepted by God thru faith in Jesus' work for us) produces humility and security as a foundation for Christian community.

What The Grace Of God Can Do (1)
David's psalm of confession is an amazing example of how God's grace can blot out our sin through the atoning blood of Christ.

God's Part and Ours
In 2 Timothy 2:14-26 Paul continues to talk to Timothy and the church about what should be done in light of the false teaching that was misleading many. Paul calls pastors and Christians to be hard working in interpreting the Word of God properly. He also calls believers to separate from false teachers, false teaching and Christians that aren't seeking the Lord as they should. Paul calls the believers to pursue godly living with other sincere believers. The goal is that we can stand before the Lord someday approved and not ashamed. In this present life, we want to be set apart in order to serve the Lord!

Out With the Old, In With the New (Manuscript Only)
Jesus Christ came to make us new. He didn't die on the cross so we could just make our sin look better, he came so that we could totally take it off and be clothed in righteousness instead. And we need his help to put on the new man that he's created us to be.

Categorically of the Spirit (Romans 8:5-9)
Paul draws a stark contrast between the person who is of the flesh and the person who is of the Spirit. The person who is of the flesh lives a life of death, and ends in death. The person who is of the Spirit lives a life of grace and mercy and peace, and ends in eternal life. By his own power, a person of the flesh cannot become a person of the Spirit. The flesh can be overcome only by death -- either our own death or the death of another. Praise God that this life of the Spirit has been purchased by the death of our Savior! Through Him we are now able to obey, to please God, and to enjoy the blessings of this abundant life in him.

God's Initiative in Justifying the Sinner (Romans 8:3-4)
God has made all those who are in Christ to be righteous. The law proclaims God's righteous standards and convicts us of our sin. However, as much as it demands righteousness, it cannot produce righteousness in us. But what the law could not do, God did! He put his son to death so that we could be declared righteous through his death, and made holy by giving us the Holy Spirit. Christians are those who walk according to the spirit.
