A Compassionate Heart
In the story of David and Mephibosheth we see the king demonstrate a great deal of compassion and mercy to a man who was an assumed enemy to the throne. The way that David seeks out an opportunity to show the loving-kindness of God to Mephibosheth, and the way that he makes room at his table for him, reflects to us the character of God and instructs us on how to live in response.

A Contrite Heart
In 2 Samuel 11 and 12, King David stumbles into an immense moral failure when he commits adultery with Bathsheba and murders her husband Uriah to cover it up. Greater Than We Can Imagine
Psalm 145 is a psalm of praise (a Hymn Psalm) written by King David to God. David gives five different reasons why God is greater than we can imagine in this psalm: His deeds, compassion, Kingdom, faithful love, and nearness to His people. Our response to God for these things should be like David's response - we should praise God every day!
