What is the Kingdom of God Like?
Luke 13:18-21 The people of Jesus' day were confused: If you're the Messiah, how come the Romans are still here, ruling over us? How come the nation isn't unified, and why isn't our worship purified? Jesus addresses their fundamental error: The Kingdom of God hasn't come in the package you want! But it has come, and is even better than you might imagine!

Called to Kingdom LIfe
This week we see how Jesus calls people to adjust to the new reality of the much-announced (via John) and the much anticipated (via the prophets all the way from Gen. 3) King and his kingdom. John learns how to decrease (off to prison) and fisherman followers learn how to leave fishing for fishing as part of Christ's sorting everything out as the King of everything who will build his church upon their preaching as his apostles.

James 2:1-13- "Get Over Yourself"
James calls all of us to deny acts of favoritism, contending that our faith in Jesus is questionable if we do. God calls us to be merciful, as Christ was merciful. The poor are inheriting the kingdom of God, James calls us to recognize this and partner with God in serving alongside them.

Your Kingdom Come
Having explained the idea of dependence (5-13) Luke now turns to the issue of the Kingdom of God. As Jesus explains, the Kingdom of God has come in power to a nation that has often been the recipients of God's deliverance. But this time, the demands cannot be ignored. Those who benefit from its power must obey its King.

A Disciple's Joy
When it comes to your relationship with Christ, what makes you rejoice? Jesus told his disciples that, as great as it was for them to be exhibiting the power of the Kingdom, the real reason for rejoicing was the deliverance God brings to the heart of faith, a deliverance from death into life.
