2 Samuel 2:12-3:39 - Promise Rules
David is still waiting on God to fulfill His promise of a kingdom. He has shown humility in inquiring of God (2:1-8) about where the kingdom show start out. Now Abner has set up Ish-bosheth as the king of Judah in a rebellious move. This passage (2:12-3:39) shows the failure of Abner and Joab in their attempts set up a kingdom contrary to God's. We will look at 3 wrong ways to seeking God's kingdom, and then will be encouraged to trust that God's promises will prevail over the desires of men. This will encourage us to always seek God's Kingdom in Chirst first before all others. (Matthew 6:33)

Committed to the Common Good
Teamwork--it's what gets big jobs done. And the big job set before us is building the Kingdom of God by reaching out to others with the love of Christ. We must do it together like the people who committed themselves to rebuilding the wall of the holy city of Jerusalem. No one could have accomplished it alone--they had to work together, side by side, brick by brick.

On Entering the Kingdom of God (Mark 10:13-52)
Continuing our series in Mark, we see where we stand relative to the overall flow of the book. In this passage from Mark 10, we see stated and demonstrated four things that are required of us as Christians: the humility of a child; a practice of discipleship that is willing to relinquish our own rights and possessions for God's sake; a cherishing of service toward others that is willing to endure suffering and sacrifice; and a faith that approaches Christ in complete dependence and trust in him.

Psalm 2: Good News For Rebels
We are all rebels – each and every one of us.Humanity's rebellion began with the very first human beings Adam and Eve knew God's requirements but raised their fists toward his throne. They placed themselves in the position of God and decided for themselves what was right and wrong. This was rebellion – an act of treason against their maker and king. Ever since, humanity has been in rebellion against God. The Psalmist wants to clearly state this fact: God has appointed a day when he will bring all rebellion on earth to and end!

Caustic Casual
Luke 13:22-30 In this passage, Jesus shows that the ever-expanding kingdom will spread not by physical heritage, but by spiritual heritage. It will be seen that many of the Jews have never truly been a part of the kingdom of God, and that likewise, many Gentiles will be a part of that kingdom. In this lesson, Jesus explains that the distinguishing mark between those who will be a part of God's kingdom and those who won't, will be in how they have sought after the very narrow door of salvation.
