A Mother's Request
In our text we see a mother’s request for her sons and what a request it was. We see momma Zebedee looking out for the best interests and spiritual life of her boys. It seems like Mrs. Zebedee was being a little selfish and overprotective for her sons. However, I believe she was just trying to be certain that when the Lord established His kingdom, her boys would have positions of responsibility and authority- she just wanted the very best for her sons.
Forever Changed
There are events surrounding the ascension of Jesus that urge us to realize God's love for us and to see things from His point of view. In fact, the ascension of Jesus forever changed things. While the above statements are reality, if someone is unaware of the changes, then the truths are of no value to the person. Unfortunately the lives of many people seeking to follow Jesus seem to reflect an unawareness of what was changed by the ascension of Jesus. Indeed, due to His ascension things will never be the same. Will the same be said of your life?
