Sermons About Lie
Challenging the Lie
The last few weeks we have been looking at Gods dealing with Israel and how it is similar to His dealings with us. It is not easy facing giants to take our rightful land and destiny, but God has assured us He will never leave us nor forsake us. The battle is His, we only have to step out and face the lie in faith, trusting our Father is as near as our voice. The exciting difference between Israel and us, is that we in Christ can come boldly before the throne of grace and get another chance to face the lies in our lives where we have failed before. And there is no condemnation for those of us in Christ Jesus. There comes a time in our walk with God where we will no longer seek to escape from the giants, that in spite of the lies, we will see them as another oppotunity to trust and be assured of God’s faithfulness to us as His sons and daughters.

The Ten Teachings - Nine - Heroic Honesty
Essentially, this came from when a person was in court. So, God was saying speak the truth when you’re on the witness stand. Don’t slander someone else or make something up just to bring them down. Most likely not all of us will be on the witness stand too often, tempted to slander someone. But, our lives are always fully open before the Lord. And this commandment does speak to the importance of heroic honesty. The 9th commandment says, Don’t give false testimony. And Jesus turned it around for the positive and said, Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’, and your ‘No’, ‘No’ (Mt. 5:37).

Facade
A.W. Tozer, in his book, The Pursuit of God shared this prayer: "Lord, I would trust You completely; I would be altogether Yours; I would exalt You above all. I desire that I may feel no sense of possessing anything outside of You. I want constantly to be aware of Your overshadowing Presence and to hear Your speaking Voice. I long to live in restful sincerity of heart. I want to live so fully in the Spirit that all my thought may be as sweet incense ascending to You and every act of my life may be an act of worship. Therefore I pray in the words of Your great servant of old, ‘I beseech You so for to cleanse the intent of mine heart with the unspeakable gift of Your grace, that I may perfectly love You and worthily praise You.’ And all this I confi dently believe You will grant me through the merits of Jesus Christ Your Son. Amen." Key Passage: Matthew 5:33-37
