Jacob meets his maker
199 years ago, Scottish novelist, Sir Walter Scott, wrote these famous words: "Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practise to deceive!" I'm sure nearly everyone of us can identify with the truth of those words. Today we walk with Jacob at the very beginning of his encounter with God. The Kingdom, Relationships, and Truth
People lie for a reason. Some lie out of shame or embarassment. Some lie to protect others, or to protect themselves. Some lie to avoid conflict or confrontation. Some lie in order to get others to do and think what they want them to do and think. Lies, for whatever reason, are destructive to our relationships with God and each other. Because Jesus is concerned about our relationships with God and one another Jesus is also very concerned about truth and lies. For Jesus this is not just an issue of morality or accuracy, it is something much more profound. Listen in as we look at truth and lies in light of the gospel.
