Sermons about Lies
We live in a world that professes MANY truths. Yet.......when philosophies and beliefs contradict one another, they cannot all be true. Even in the church, there are many disputes about truth. How can we deal with such things?
Sermon on Ephesians 4:25 by Pastor Dan Hendley.
In American culture the biblical concept of truth has been rejected and the result is that what is accepted as okay is using people to get what we want and thereby creating conflicts fueled by deceit. But God, who is truth, calls and equips his covenant people to be people of truth, because he does not deal deceitfully with them, but reveals truth. Yet Jacob engaged in deceit in securing the blessing from his father Isaac. Jacob receives a "taste of his own medicine" when Laban deals deceitfully with him when giving Leah instead of Rachel as Jacob's wife. In this event we learn of the signs of deceit that are not to characterize the lives of God's people--using people to get what we want and creating conflicts fueled by deceit. Thankfully, God reveals these truths to us so that we can be people of truth and not have these kinds of actions mark our lives.
In this sermon we unpack a Biblical theology of healing based on Mark 3:7-12.
What brought Samson to the point of defeat? Was it simply the love of a woman? Or was it the power of words and lies? The accusers planned to tie him up and take away his power. What ties us up in our faith?
We live in a world in which many people do not believe that God exists. From magazine covers to philosophers, many people have proclaimed that God is indeed dead. I have found it very ironic that the people that make this claim seem to be acknowledging there was a God in the first place. Many people have believed these lies and have accepted this belief. How do we respond to the world when they attempt to tell us that God does not exist?
The Bible doesn't say ignore the devil and he will flee from you. It says resist the devil and he will flee from you. A huge thing we must resist is the devil's lies. Learn to say yes to God's truth and no to Satan's lies.
