Philippians 2:9-11 - From Humility to Super Exaltation
The best way to see the exaltation of Christ is to view it on the backdrop of his humiliation in heaven, in incarnation, and in death. Humiliation does not mean embarrassment, slavish service, wimpiness, lack of boldness or ambition or the prideful pursuit of spirituality. We see that in this text that God exaltation of Christ is past (v. 9) and future (vv. 10-11). In the past God super exalted Christ at the right hand of the Father to the glory he had before the world was created. The Lamb of God is worthy and is given a name that everyone above every name with is LORD or Yahweh. Because of God past super exaltation of Christ and because he has been given the name Yahweh or LORD all people should (not shall) bow the knee and confess Christ in salvation. This verse is usually quoted incorrectly in a universalistic fashion making it say that everyone will worship God, but we know that Romans 14:10-12 includes everyone will bow in judgment but not in salvation. You should consider how you will approach Christ either in salvation with knees bowed and tong confessing or in Judgment with knees bowed.

2 Samuel 11 - Flesh, Blood, and Fidelity
This is the famous narrative of David adultery with Bathsheba and murder of Uriah her husband. In the preceding 2 chapters David had delt with those inside Israel (Mephibosheth) and those outside Israel (Hanan) with covenant Kindness and loyalty. One would see David's leadership as one where fidelity was the driving value of his kingdom administration if it were not for Chapter 11. In this chapter David show his divided loyalties between his own desires and his loyalty to God. Fidelity to God in David's life only went so far it seems. You can learn much about your fidelity to Christ from understanding where you compartmentalize your life to keep Christ's Lordship from intruding too closely. We also see ways of growing in our fidelity to Christ's Lordship including 1) Don't slack off prusing God through his Word, 2) Don't prusue earthly success to control circumstances, 3) Don't prusue safety in life apart from following Christ, and 4) Don't think you will grow without a heart that is absolutely surrendered to Christ's Lordship. This narrative should teach all believers that they can fall into sin just as easily as David did if we don't prusue fidelity with God in all things regardless of the cost. Listening to this sermon will help you see the importance of fidelity as you follow Christ as His disciple.

Matthew 28:16-20 (PM)
On our first official Sunday morning worship service, Adam preaches Matt. 28:16-20. Christ presents His authority over all the earth and His plan for the Church to make disciples from every people group in the world. He demands that people follow Him as His disciples, and then those believers must intentionally go to make other obedient disciples.

The Greatest of All (Mark 9:33-50)
Because Christ is lord over all things, following Christ requires change in every area of our lives. In particular, we see in this passage that Christ's lordship changes how we think of ourselves, how we think of and serve one another, and how we battle sin. And because of his sacrifice and the power of the Holy Spirit, we are able to grow in living out these changed lives.

His Name Shall Be Called Jesus (Luke 1:26-38)
We consider the miracle and mystery of God become flesh, the birth of the very Son of God in an insignificant town through a series of amazing miracles. Jesus is the son of David whose rule will be forever. All things are under his rule and authority -- we must live under his rule and authority here and now.
