Bartimaeus
The second week in our series called “Loser” continues to look at the stories of individuals in the Bible who were seen as losers in society’s eyes. This message looks at the story of blind Bartimaeus. Few people in the Bible show as much persistence and eagerness in their desire to change their societal loser status as Bartimaeus, who was not about to be swayed from his efforts to attract Jesus’ attention. The discouragement from everyone around him only made him shout louder, determined to get the attention of the Healer he had heard about. His story helps each of us see more clearly the remarkable grace available in the person of Jesus Christ.

However, the experience of life has taught us all that sooner or later we all will (and must) lose at something. This is often the only way that the Life-God-Grace Mystery can get us to change. This message explores this candid reality of life while introducing the new theme for the New Year: 2012 "New Experiences".
