Jesus, What Difference Can You Really Make In My Life?
Dinner with Jesus - Week 5 October 5, 2008 Jesus, What Difference Can You Really Make In My Life? Mark 10:17-22 Jesus and the Young Gun - This man had it all - young, rich, powerful - but he wasn't satisfied. Something More - Looking for meaning and purpose, that 'something more' is a relationship with Jesus Christ. Good Isn't Good Enough - God doesn't want you to try harder - He wants you to turn to Him by asking Him to forgive you and to lead your life! Letting Go - The man was so close to forgiveness, to a new life – but he wasn’t willing to let go of what he loved the most and follow Jesus. Knowing Jesus - There is another story in the Bible about another young man. Like the first one, he was young, powerful, brilliant, aggressive. He was on the road to success in every way until he came face to face with Jesus. But instead of holding on to his life, this young man left everything to follow Jesus. The apostle Paul - God changed him and then he used him to change the world! Philippians 3:7-9 Cardboard Testimony - Don’t leave here the way you came! You can be changed. You can be forgiven. You can know God in a real, personal way. Not by trying harder – but by turning to Jesus and asking him to forgive you and lead your life right now!

Making Room
The discipline of fasting is not one that has been widely practiced in evangelical circles but is having a bit of a “renewal” in our generation. More and more we hear people and ministries calling us to times of prayer and fasting. What is this practice all about? Why was it so important to the Jewish community and what can we learn from this discipline? In our text this weekend, Jesus simply assumes that we are a people who fast, and challenges us once again to fast for the right reasons and in the right way. Key Passages: Matthew 6:16-18 and Isaiah 58:6
