Many associate meekness with weakness… the opposite is true. Meekness in God’s kingdom could be described as power or strength under control. While our culture does not put a high value on meekness, it is a requirement in God’s kingdom.

The New Testament Greek word for "gentleness" implies the right use of power and authority; it is power under control. It may include mercy, meekness, humility, and patience, too. But the kingdom and its citizens are marked by meekness: strength under control, that doesn't demand its way but waits for God to act. While we wait, we put our sinful desires to death by the power of the Spirit.
