The Benefits of Believing and Belonging
The influences of individualism, privatism, pluralism, relativism, and anti-institutionalism in our society today has convinced many people that they can believe in God without belonging to His Body. Today’s message will focus on six benefits that are forfeited by believers who hold to such a philosophy. The acronym BELONG will help us remember what God’s Word teaches us about the values added to the lives of those who commit themselves to Christ’s Body-the Church, values that the Body of Christ is committed to providing because you can’t get them anywhere else! Identifies B in Christ (Ephesians 2:19). Provides E________________ (Hebrews 10:24-26). A place to L______________ (I Corinthians 12:4-7). O___________ protection (Hebrews 13:7) N____________ us through life (Ephesians 4:16) Accountability for G_____________ Colossians 3:16) BELONG!

Go
We admit it. We have an agenda: we want you to join the church. All believers in Jesus in every time and place are members of the universal church, but committing to a local church is a vital part of the spiritual life for every Christ-follower. In our teaching series, CHURCH 101, we are taking several weeks to describe the foundational commitments of church membership. Our members are those who have accepted the mission of helping others become passionate followers of Jesus through the ministry and community of this church. Over the next few weeks, we will discuss what that means as we explore practically how we can live for Jesus as a part of His church.

Tychicus, A Model Member
The final message in a series on Ephesians 4-6. A pastoral description of a functioning member. As a believer, God has given to all of us spiritual gifts that we are to exercise to the edification of the local church. Tychicus was a faithful servant who exercised his gifts and was greatly used of God and honored by the Apostle Paul.

The Local Church: Why You Ought to be a Formal and Active Member of a Local Church (Part II)
Is that what membership is all about? Is it us, as a denomination or a local church, showing by our numbers that we are superior to the church down the street? It could be. We need to be careful in our discussions on membership. We must be biblical, and not merely pragmatic or traditional, or we could in up with something that looks more like the worship of numbers than a house built to worship the Lord.
