How did the reality of the Resurrection impact you this past week? If you do not have an answer, then apparently... Well, how about this. Have you responded to God's invitation to live?
In 1:10-16, Paul explains why Titus’ appointment of qualified leadership in the Cretan churches is so important, namely, there are many false teachers in Crete turning people away from the gospel. So then, Paul exhorts Titus to not only appoint godly leadership (1:6-9) but also to oppose ungodly leadership in the church (1:10-16). In order to aid Titus and the churches in recognizing and opposing ungodly leadership, Paul gives twelve characteristics of false teachers and two action steps to take in order to prevent them from harming the church. These characteristics and action steps not only apply to Paul’s day but to every age.
What we do with our minds profoundly shapes our character. Paul calls believers to focus their thoughts on things that are truly good and praiseworthy as a way of honoring God and as a means to living a good life.
Is your engagement limited to Sunday only? Are you extending the kingdom outside of these four walls? Are you extending the Kingdom beyond your home? Does your life, and your life in the church, reflect the love and the response-ableness that you are capable of?
Jesus says that the greatest commandment is to love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind, and soul and love our neighbor as ourselves. Is that even possible? How can we do it? More importantly, why?
