Humility - The Fertile Ground for Godly Change
Humility - Andrew Murray says its the place of entire dependence upon God; ...the root of every virtue; Jim Berg says it's the frame of mind...that says I am sinful and need God's mercy and I am insufficient and need God's grace. Either way you slice it, we need it. If we ever hope to experience the grace of God necessary to change for His sake and His glory, we need to follow the example of our Lord and Savior and humble ourselves. God resists the proud, but He gives grace to the humble.

Sacred Joy: Philippians 2.5-11
The sermon passage today is no doubt one of the most glorious in all of Scripture. It is one that takes us from the highest of highs to the lowliest of lows only to re-ascend to the greatest of heights. As we look at this section on Christ’s humiliation and exaltation it is central to what Paul is calling the church at Philippi to and what we are called to as well. We are called to have a certain conduct and attitude as those belonging to Christ. I pray that we would be moved to exalt in worship the exalted Christ today.

God's Concern for the Whole Person: Body, Mind, and Spirit
God's concern is not just for eternity, but for the here and now also. And God is concerned not just about the soul, but the body and mind as well. God who created and redeemed us is passionately concerned about the whole person - body, mind, and spirit. Understanding and living stewardship in daily life, we are called to manage God's gift of our health and well-being. On the church's calendar, October 18 commemorates St. Luke, Evangelist. Luke was also a physician, so there are strong healing connections associated with this day. Into our stress-filled world broken by sin, Jesus has come to bring healing and shalom - his saving peace.

Restoration of the Mind (Ephesians 4:17-24)
Restoring our minds is similar to restoring furniture. You strip the layers, you stain it and then you seal it. It took me two years to restore my husband’s great aunt’s sewing machine. In restoring furniture first, we have to strip away the years of wear and tear – the paint, the dirt and the grime. As we pass through life, we experience things that affect our minds, both right and wrong. We must strip away those wrong thinking patterns. There are thousands upon thousands of thoughts presented to us every day through words and images, from media and people. How do we respond to them?

Glory in the Fellowship Part 5
God wants the world to see what happens when people walk in obedience to Him. Christians are called to a higher responsibility. When we come to Christ, we become Christ followers. We represent Christ. The Pharisees were people of the mind. James and John, the Sons of Thunder, were men of the soul. Josiah was a man of the heart. The heart, the soul, and the mind must be tied togther. We are called to seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness.

I'll Be Happy...When I Can Unplug and Not Think!
Have you ever been so tired and stressed from work that all you want to do is come home, turn on the TV and not think? If you have young kids, do you dread the hours from 4-7pm and long for the time when the kids are in bed so that you can shut down? Our passage tells us that there is a peace and joy that comes from God but it doesn't come from not thinking. In fact, if we are anxious, stressed and worried, it's because we are not thinking correctly. Here in this message, we consider the significance of Christianity and thinking.

Glory in the Fellowship Part 4
Jesus gave us the path to a total life makeover. The command we are given is to love the Lord your God. Agape love is about choice, not about feeling. We are called to love God with our whole being! We are called to love God with all our heart, the core of our being. We are also called to love God with all of our soul, the core of our emotions. Finally, we are called to love God with all our mind, the thoughts and intellect. Whole health comes by worship, prayer, and the Word.

I'll Be Happy When... I Can Uplug and Not Think
What is the role of our thinking in experiencing joy and peace? The apostle Paul places a great deal of emphasis on the role of our mind in our faith. In fact, peace and joy in our faith can only come as we learn to focus on thoughts on the goodness, truth and beauty of Christ.
