Sermons About Missional
In English, Please
“…we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” Acts 2:11b On the day of Pentecost, the Spirit comes and drives Christ’s followers out to share the Gospel and enables them to communicate it across cultural divides. Likewise, we are called and empowered by the Spirit to go out into the world at our steps as missionaries and communicate the Gospel across cultural boundaries, making its message as clear and as powerful as possible.

The King of Controversy
According to the bible, Jesus functions in three roles. He is the Prophet who makes God known through His person, teaching and work. He is our High Priest in that He alone stands before God as our mediator. Finally He is a King. Not just any king, but the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. He makes this clear as He is interrogated by a bias jury in the last hours before His divine appointment with the cross.

Salt and Light
In the eyes of the world, Jesus was a fool. He did not abide by the rules of the day; the people he associated with were shunned by society; his Sermon on the Mount reads like a primer on being left behind, stepped on and ignored. Being a ‘Christian’ is not some magical process by which we are automatically transformed into better people. We must train to become who God wants us to be. We are sinful, faulted beings. Our system fi les are corrupted and we need to reset our systems to the defaults that Christ has demonstrated for us. It begins with the reshaping of our minds ‒ how we think ‒ what we believe ‒ what we know to be true, and then beginning to live out that truth in practical ways in our daily lives. Key Passage: Matthew 5: 1-16
