Were Not Our Hearts Burning Within Us?
The account in Luke's Gospel of the two disciples who met Jesus on the road to Emmaus after His resurrection is one of the most intriguing in the New Testament. It gives us, in story form, very deep insight into how it is that we come to know the Lord's presence in our lives. Against the backdrop of God's first seeking us, it shows us how the Lord uses the rich interplay of emotions, Scripture, understanding and participation in a common meal with uncommon meaning to bring us into a life changing realization of God's grace in Christ. The two who met Him said to the others, "Were not our hearts burning within us while He talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?" As we open the Scriptures today it is with the prayer that the Lord will make our hearts burn as well and that the burning in our hearts will transform our lives.

Leaving Mommy or Daddy’s Castle
Building a marriage is like building a castle. Castles provide protection for the occupants inside. What are the four walls for building a castle that will provide safety for a husband and wife to build intimacy and oneness? What does it mean when we try to make a castle work with only two or three walls? Our second wall we put in place is is thru “leaving mom and dad.”

What's Your Story? (Romans 8:18-23, 28, 31-39)
The themes of brokenness and redemption dominate the gospel story. If we look closely at our own lives, we can spot these same themes, and maybe even Jesus too. In this sermon, Pastor Joel Lindsey tells his story in order to point to the greater story God is telling.

The Gospel and Family
TV families are built on the grotesque idea of our own brokenness, no even pointing to the ideal. It's easy for parents to fall into the trap of the familiar, either by copying from, or by overcompensating for our own parents. We should look instead to the scripture for direction, not only to see the ideal, but to see family in light of the gospel

Different By Design
Men and women, created in the image of God, are equal in value, importance, significance and dignity. But in a reflection of the glorious unity and diversity of the Trinity, men and women are also created and called by God to serve in different but complementary roles. In the context of the church and family, men are called by God to lead and provide, and women are called by God to help. This calling predates mankind's fall into sin.
To say all this is barely to scratch the surface; applying this requires careful attention to God's commands and a watchfulness that we do not fall into the various temptations that beset us as men and women. But there is great joy to be found in walking out God's calling for us.
Scriptures referenced include Genesis 1-3; 1 Corinthians 11:3,7-11; 1 Corinthians 15:22,28; Romans 5:15; 1 Timothy 2:13,15; Colossians 3:18; Titus 2:4-5; Ephesians 5:22-25; 1 Peter 3:1-6; 1 Timothy 5:9,14; Proverbs 31:28.

A Help for Moms
It's not that moms need help - they deserve help and can be helped by the aid of their children. Ephesians 6:1 tells us to obey our parents. Obey means to listen attentively then conform to that instruction. They are also deserving of honor, which is commanded in Scripture. Moms are the glue in the family, the nurturers and encouragers. Obeying and honoring our mothers pleases the Lord.
