IS THE FATHER OF JESUS THE GOD OF MUHAMMAD? (Title taken from a book by Timothy George) [John 1:14-18 ● Message #2/2] 09-12-2010
INTRODUCTION: (Review from Last Sunday). 1. Purpose for this Message: ● in light of 1½ Billion Muslims (and their growth in the U.S.A.); ● to be Faithful to the Gospel (Loving our Neighbor & Preaching the One-True Gospel). 2. Loving Muslims: ● as our Neighbors; ● by Overcoming our Sinful Barriers (fear, ignorance, pride, etc.); ● by Learning from Muslims and about Muslims; ● while being on Guard in Prayer; ● and Proclaiming the Gospel. KNOWING & OBEYING THE GOSPEL. 1. Know the Triune-God: and Worship Him unto His glory (vs14-15) ● God (Triune, Eternal, Sovereign, Creator…); ● Jesus Christ (the God-Man, Lord & Savior…); ● We are created for God’s glory. 2. Believe the Revelation of God: Manifest thru the Person of Jesus Christ (vs15, 17-18) ● the Spoken-written Word of God; ● the Person of Jesus Christ; ● the Work of the Holy Spirit. 3. Receive the Salvation of God: Believe in and Receive His Son (vs16-17) ● the Big Picture (Salvation History); ● the Problem of Sin; ● God’s Grace; ● Our Faith. CHRISTIANITY & ISLAM. 1. Summary Teachings of Islam: ● God (Allah); ● Revelation (Qur’an, Muhammad); ● Sin and Salvation; ● Other Teachings. 2. Is the Father of Jesus the God of Muhammad? 3. Conclusion: Our Response as Christians: ● to Know and Obey the Gospel; ● to Love our Muslim Neighbors and Find Common Ground; ● to be on Guard in Prayer; ● to Proclaim the One-True Gospel.
