Sermons about Nehemiah
Just a short time after the people of God weep over their sin and make a covenant with God we see them breaking the very terms of the covenant. They are intermarrying again. They are dishonoring the Sabbath again. They are neglecting the temple and priests again. We see a cycle of sin and failure in our own lives. So, what do we do now? Work harder? Be better? Or trust the finished work of Christ more.
The New Testament teaches that every Christian has a ministry and mission in their life. We look at four characteristics of Christian ministers found in Nehemiah 12.
The People of God make a vow with God and dedicate their lives to Him.
Nehemiah 8:1-18. God's People are revived by the reading and proclamation of God's Word.
Nehemiah prayerfully seeks God's wisdom about what to do for his kinsmen and his home. Finally, the Lord plants a God-sized vision into his heart and opens the door to ask the King permission to return to Jerusalem. Nehemiah must put his faith into action, for faith without works is a dead faith. Once arriving in Jerusalem, Nehemiah assesses the concerns and then rallies the tired, despaired people to join him in the cause of rebuilding the city of God.
