A Useful Tool in the Hand of God
Throughout the Bible, God has shown that He is always searching for someone with the right kind of heart - someone who can be used as a tool by God to accomplish His purpose and who brings Him glory. In his personal memoirs, Nehemiah records how God used him to lead the Jewish remnant who had returned from the Babylonian exile to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem and reform the spiritual life of the nation of Israel in preparation for the promised Messiah.

Faithfulness to God's plan will lead to opposition from God's enemies. We will grow weary, afraid and discouraged. We can persevere through prayer and preparation when we remember who God is and how Jesus has worked for us, works in us & through us.

God's plan for the city invites us to risk for the city. Jesus left comfort and security to save us. He works in us so we will take risks to bring the blessings of the gospel to people in the city.

The Vision of a Leader
September 14th: The Vision of a Leader. “Then I said to them, "You see the trouble we are in, how Jerusalem lies in ruins with its gates burned. Come, let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer suffer derision." And I told them of the hand of my God that had been upon me for good, and also of the words that the king had spoken to me.†-Nehemiah 2:17-18 Each of us need a vision for our own lives and the lives of the people around us: that they need to be connected to God and that God has called us to help that happen. God's hand is on our lives and on our church to help connect people to Him and it is the ultimate good God could bring from our lives. What's more important than being a part of someone's life being changed now and forever? That's the vision of a leader.
