Sermons About Nehemiah
After You Say Amen
In this continuation of the Book of Nehemiah.....the question to ask yourself is this. What influences you? Who influences you? Are you distinct as a man or woman of God or do you live just like the rest of the world lives with no difference? It may be time to shake off some friendships and devote yourself to godliness.

The Grace and Justice of Our God
Nehemiah’s prayer against his enemies not only raises a number of questions, but even threatens to offend many of our notions about the grace and justice of God. By taking a closer look both at Nehemiah’s prayer and at our own preconceptions about the character of God, we will seek to understand how this prayer ought to affect our lives today. At the end of this message I hope that we will have a greater appreciation both for God’s perfect justice and for his amazing grace. And I hope that our awareness of these two things will drive us out to call a world under God’s just wrath to flee to the cross where his grace can be found.

A City Transformed - Part 4
How do you enter into ministry? Pastor Robert tells us that if you are Nehemiah, you enter in and lay low, you show up with a broken heart and serve quietly, you have got to examine it first. Listen and learn the Hebrew word for examine and its meaning. It means more than you think.

God's Building Blueprint - Part 2
Nehemiah's account of the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem serves as a blueprint which lays out seven timeless principles that we must follow if we want to experience God's good hand of blessing on our present building project. In Part 1 of this message, we learned that 1) we must be greatly concerned for God's work (verses 1:1-4), and 2) that we must practically plan ahead (Chapter 2). Today, Pastor Ramey continues this message by laying out the remaining five steps to a successful building project. In addition to having great concern and exercising practical planning, we must: 3. Practically plan ahead and work hard (Ch 2) 4. Willingly work together (Ch 3) 5. Tenaciously persevere despite opposition (Ch 4) 6. Generously give regardless of the economy (Ch 5) 7. Humbly give God all the glory (Ch 6) The Lord provided Nehemiah as an example for us to follow as we go about building His church here at Lakeside. From his leadership, we see clearly that the hand of God works through the hands of men. We should pray as if our entire building project depends on God and work as if it all depends on us. This is the kind of glorifying attitude which is pleasing to the Lord. Through this, God graciously lays His hand of blessing upon the endeavors of His people, and all along the way, and in the end, all the glory goes to God. We are fortunate to be given the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with God to accomplish His glory. It is only then that we know that our work was not done in vain!

How to Face Opposition
When we face opposition, we typically retaliate, or slump into a fetal position, only to be pummeled by life's circumstances. Listen as Pastor Tim Kelly dives into Nehemiah 4 to dissect how God blessed Nehemiah's response to those who opposed the rebuilding of the wall in Jerusalem.

God's Building Blueprint
Nehemiah Nehemiah's account of the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem serves as a blueprint which lays out seven timeless principles that we must follow if we want to experience God's good hand of blessing on our present building project. In this message, Pastor Ramey discusses two of the seven steps to a successful building project. To begin, we must be greatly concerned for God's work (verses 1:1-4); and secondly, we must prayerfully depend on God (verses 1:5-11). From these two verses alone, we learn that unless the Lord builds the house, those who labor will labor in vain!

Mission of the King
What can we learn about our mission through this great work of Nehemiah? How can we put some meat on the bones of missional calling? How should God’s people now respond if they’ve been broken over the needs of our city? God loves to use the simple, common, humble people who He chooses to raise up and use in incredible ways. God is calling us to no less that what we see in Nehemiah’s life and example.

Planning for God's Glory
To throw chance in the air and leave it all up to God deprives us of the responsibility and benefit of planning. Whether planning to run a race or grow closer to Him, those who fail to plan, plan to fail. Hear how Nehemiah did not attempt to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem without first constructing a plan.

A City Transformed - Part 1
Are you open to what God wants to do in your life –even if it means that the life you have now will be ruined? Pastor Robert explains that when Nehemiah heard of the suffering of “his people,†fasted and prayed, opened himself up to this possibility; then his life in God’s hands transformed a ruined city. Robert challenges you to be like Nehemiah. Look around you, fast, and pray. Who are “your people What are you willing to do, even if it ruins your life as it is?
