Holy Rebellion
It’s Time for You to Experience Holy Rebellion! Matthew 10:32-39; Mark 5:25-29; 7:24-30; 10:46-52; Rom. 12:1-2 The start of a new year is always a great time to get things in order and even have a new beginning! One way to initiate change, progress, and new beginnings is to “rebel†against things in your life that have been holding you back, down, and out! Don’t acquiesce any longer! Awake out of your complacency! For Jesus’ sake, and for the sake of your soul, REBEL! First, make a list of the things for which you are truly grateful. How is the goodness of God visible in your life? What are the things of which you are sick-and-tired? What are the things in your life that seem “okay†but you know their “grip†on your life will eventually lead to misery and destruction? Identify them and “rebelâ€! Who are your “partners-in-rebellionâ€? Who’s holding you accountable?

The Story of Christmas is the Story of a New Birth
Third week in Advent. We light the Shepherds candle or faith. We remember, we celebrate the coming of God himself into his broken world to set things right. With the coming of Christ is the coming of a new creation, new birth, and a new community. Jesus, the eternal Word who created all things came near to recreate you. He does this through the “shine†display of his goodness and glory. The thing about the light of life that comes in Christ is that it forces and response that determines your relationship.

Command
Jesus always used His power for the good of others. Although that is such a unique characteristic in our world, God calls us to do just that. The other option which we see all to often in our culture is poeple using their power to protect their power. The scene that unfolds in John 11 is a classic study in a contrast of leadership styles. On one hand we see Jesus give an unthinkable command that displayed HIs awesome power and impacted lives around him. On the other hand, we see a man named Caiaphas who used his power to protect his position and lost everything.

What Went Wrong With This World?
Journey of Beginnings What Went Wrong With This World? Genesis 6-8 Three world conditions that caused God to say, I’ve had enough!†1. Every intent of the thoughts of their hearts was only evil all the time. (verse 5) 2. The earth was full of violence. (verse 11) 3. All the people on earth had corrupted their ways. (verse 12) Noah, a real person of faith steps up to the plate! (chapter 7&8) 1. He took action on the message he received from God. 2. His faith compelled him to complete a most difficult task. 3. Through his faith he and his immediate family were saved. The coming of Jesus will be like the days of Noah. (Matthew 24:37,38; Luke 17:26,27) 1, People will be eating and drinking, marrying and being given in marriage, buying and selling, planting and building. 2. The vast population did not wake up to realize what was happening until the flood came and destroyed them all. God makes a covenant that effects you. 1. Never again will I send a flood that destroys everything (verse 8: 21,22; 9:13) 2. Step out of the Ark into the new life God offers you!
