Sermons About New-year
The Hopes And Priorities Of The New Year
The first thing we're told in Psalm 63 is that this is a psalm of David when he was in the desert of Judah. David was the most famous King of the Jewish people. He was a very human individual who went through all kinds of experiences and failures and struggles and came through them all. This is a song of faith that was written during a difficult time in David's life. The desert is a symbol of our hard times. It's a wasteland that offers very little to nurture or sustain life. But verse 7 says: Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. That's a pretty good theme verse for the year to come. The Psalm is saying there is a way to sing, to thrive, even in a wasteland.

Sacred Communion
As the New Year begins we want to pose a question. What is sacred? What is sacred to you? When you think of your time, your priorities and the different spheres of your life what is sacred? As we begin to think about such this week we will start with prayer, a sacred communion.

Plus, it shows us how we can ensure that our progress in these resolutions will last.

Holy Rebellion
It’s Time for You to Experience Holy Rebellion! Matthew 10:32-39; Mark 5:25-29; 7:24-30; 10:46-52; Rom. 12:1-2 The start of a new year is always a great time to get things in order and even have a new beginning! One way to initiate change, progress, and new beginnings is to “rebel†against things in your life that have been holding you back, down, and out! Don’t acquiesce any longer! Awake out of your complacency! For Jesus’ sake, and for the sake of your soul, REBEL! First, make a list of the things for which you are truly grateful. How is the goodness of God visible in your life? What are the things of which you are sick-and-tired? What are the things in your life that seem “okay†but you know their “grip†on your life will eventually lead to misery and destruction? Identify them and “rebelâ€! Who are your “partners-in-rebellionâ€? Who’s holding you accountable?
