For the Love of Peanuts
It is a mystery as to why no one has ever done a full-length film of George Washington Carver. The story of this great scientist is extraordinary. He was born in 1864 in Missouri on the farm of an elderly white couple, Moses and Susan Carver. While yet an infant, George and his mother were kidnapped by Confederate night-raiders. Moses tried to locate George and his mother after the war, but he was only able to find George and traded a horse to get him back. After enduring resistance in securing an education in a segregated world, Carver entered Simpson College in Iowa
Hold on! The night is about over!
We see again in Luke 2, the promise of God birthed in the form of a baby, who was to be the deliverer of man from his sins and death. Jesus was born during the nighttime hours and gives us an imagery that shows He came to pierce the darkness and shine His light to all. How many times have you been surrounded by darkness and you couldn't see a way out? Christ came in the night to break its hold on you. There dozens of illustrations when God moved in the middle of the night for people in the midst of their situations all over the Bible. Weeping may come in the night, but it only lasts in the night...joy - freedom - a shout - victory - hope - LIFE comes in the morning.

O Holy Night
What makes the holy night of Christ’s birth such a divine night? The author of the Christmas Hymn “O Holy Night," read the story of the birth of Christ in Luke chapter 2 and imagined being there. This evoked such an emotional response in the author’s heart that he penned the carol - highlighting four major theological distinctions. This sermon will look at the historical background of the hymn and explore four theological distinctives about the birth of Christ.
Be Assured
This passage has been referred to as the ingredients of a Christian's salad; three times the Bible uses the words "let us" (lettuce) and gives admonition to draw near in faith, hold fast in hope, and encourage others in love. This kind of holy living will produce in us an assurance of our salvation in Christ.
Have a Seat
After talking about the inferior nature of the Old Testament animal sacrifices, the author of Hebrews moves on to the superiority of Christ's sacrifice. He argues that His sacrifice is superior by virtue of two reasons. You and I can be secure in our salvation because Christ is seated on the right hand of God, having offered an eternal sacrifice.
