First Things First
In the book of Philippians, the apostle Paul said that he had put following Christ first. Paul didn’t say, “These 100 things I dabble in.” No, he said, “This one thing I do.” We can make following Christ our first thing. The text gives three priorities (or big rocks) that we can put into our lives in order to make following Christ our “one thing.”

God Is ... Good
Taste is a funny thing isn’t it? Everyone has a different perspective on taste. What tastes good to me may be bad to you. And even funnier is the way our taste changes. As we get older, what we thought was good, we lose a taste for and what we may have thought wasn’t so good, we begin to crave. The Psalmist said, “Taste and see that the Lord is good.” But is God really good? I mean, he may be good to me, but what about to you? Do you ever question God’s goodness? Do you ever read the Bible and wonder about the OT stories of God’s judgment? Or perhaps more personally, have you had a life experience that causes you to doubt God’s goodness? Is there suffering or loss in your life that you blame on God? Do you say God is good, but secretly believe that He is harsh and uncaring towards you? The Bible teaches us that God is good. But according to the Psalm 34, knowing and experiencing that goodness requires our response. From our limited human perspective we cannot know and understand God’s goodness, but we can “taste and see.” “Tasting and seeing” we can know and experience that God is good.
