Is the Christian Faith Oppressive to Women?
Often, the challenge of addressing the charge that the Christian faith is oppressive to women is based on the idea that “equality†must be seen as being “identical†– any differences are viewed therefore as evidence of inequality. But the scriptures present a view of equality that is unique among other competing perspectives, and it is that women are both absolutely equal to and uniquely complementary with men.
Hope In God
There are surely times in your life when you feel like David—oppression and various adversaries surround you. It is unrealistic (and actually unbiblical) to believe that once you become a Christian, all life is smooth sailing and trouble-free. Be assured and forewarned that hard times will indeed come although weeping may last for the night, but joy comes in the morning! Know that we have a great High Priest that can sympathize with us in our troubles, and know also that if Jesus conquered the grave to redeem your soul, He can surely defeat your worst fears and bring you through all manner of trial and tribulation. We may take great comfort to know that He took the punishment so we never have to face it ourselves. What wondrous grace!
Liberation vs Oppression
The chains will He break for the slave is our brother
Oppression
Audio quality is rough for the first 2.5min. Cultural minorities have been oppressed since the beginning of our time. What is God's heart on this subject? Are we really relating the love of Christ unto each other? All oppressors feel justified in their position; racists, Al-kida, even us christians. Yes, we do it too; often internally without even knowing it. This is a sermon that will challenge our position in modern society & melt away the wax that our lives have been cast from by digging into the root of social oppression.
Song of the Righteous King
Jesus came as King to institute righteousness, prosperity and compassion in a world filled with oppression.
The Fall of Babylon
This section of Revelation details the sins of the Roman Empire (Babylon). Are there any parallels in our country?
Oppression - Tamil
Why are we oppressed? How do we overcome oppression?
Rebuilding a Community of Faith (Nehemiah 8: 1-3, 5-6, 8-10)
Here we see a spiritual awakening brought forth through the prayers of Nehemiah and Ezra, the teaching of God’s word, and the worshipful unity of the people. They heard how to live as God’s faithful covenant community. They heard that the Law was given for their benefit not their condemnation – as confirmation of a relationship, not a condition of one. What an affirmation to hear that they belong to God after being under Babylonian and Persian oppression. They were not a conquered oppressed people — and this speaks true to us as well.
Quest #4 - Release the Oppressed (Part 5)
Jesus said that one of his missions (quests) on earth was to "release the oppressed." Who was he talking about? Who are the oppressed in our modern world? If we open our hearts and look through a lens of love and compassion, we will find the oppressed in many places including our own communities. Particular emphasis in this message is placed on human trafficking. Some of the stories might be troubling to young children so LISTENER DISCRETION IS ADVISED.
