A City Transformed - Part 1
Are you open to what God wants to do in your life –even if it means that the life you have now will be ruined? Pastor Robert explains that when Nehemiah heard of the suffering of “his people,†fasted and prayed, opened himself up to this possibility; then his life in God’s hands transformed a ruined city. Robert challenges you to be like Nehemiah. Look around you, fast, and pray. Who are “your people What are you willing to do, even if it ruins your life as it is?

The Gift (Pt. 3 - Look Past the Wrapping)
Too often, our expectations can set us up for disappointment and disillusionment. When it comes to God, we often have expectations of how we think He should work in our lives if we love Him. But God's ways are not our ways, and many times, the greatest gifts and blessings God is giving us are not wrapped in pretty or even desirable packages. If we don't look past the wrapping, we'll miss the gift entirely.

Give Presence: Luke 11.27-28 (Peace)
I love the song "I heard the bells", especially the end when it says, "there is no peace on earth, hate is strong that mocks the song, peace on earth good will to men – then peel the bells more loud and deep, God is not dead nor does He sleep, the wrong shall fail the right prevail with peace on earth, good will to men." I long for peace. Peace in my relationshps, peace with all that is wrong, peace in the midst of suffering, peace to all our differences and above all peace with God. May you receive the peace of God and give the presence of peace this advent season.

A Psalm. For Giving Thanks.
The book of Psalms is famous for the way it speaks about two things: the pain of life and the praise of God. We often find it hard to put the two together. How can you be heartfelt about the praise of God if you are honest about the pain of life? What the psalms teach us is that it is not only possible to be thankful, it's important. When life is going well thankfulness reminds us that behind all of the good gifts of life there is a God who is good. When life seems filled with troubles, being thankful doesn't dissolve your troubles but it can transform your spirit. It can be an act of faith that gives you the strength to get through trouble without bitterness or foolishness.
