Christian Parenting
It seems that today’s Christian parent is constantly looking for help on how to rear their children. There are many books in Christian bookstores on parenting – but although much of the parenting advice is from a Christian perspective, it is not truly Biblical. Christian parents need to understand and apply the principles that the Bible sets forth in order to bring up their children in a way that honors Christ. Four Scriptural Principles of Christian Parenting: 1. CHILDREN SHOULD BE SEEN AS A BLESSING – NOT A HARDSHIP 2. PARENTING IS SUPPOSED TO BE A JOY – NOT A BURDEN 3. SUCCESS IN PARENTING IS MEASURED BY WHAT THE PARENTS DO, NOT BY WHAT THE CHILD DOES 4. A CHILD'S MOST IMPORTANT INFLUENCES COME FROM THE PARENTS, NOT PEERS

Sacred Parenting: Culture
Each family is designed to be a culture with a languauge, customs, traditions and many unspoken assumptions. God has made the world in such a way that children who grow up in the culture of the family are to be shaped and molded by it. So what is shaping your children? Is the culture of the home shaping them or is the outside culture influences taken primacy when it comes to shaping your children? This week we will be encouraged to shape our children according to the standards of God's Word.

Sacred Parenting: God's Covenant
This week we begin a three week teaching series on Sacred Parenting. As Christian parents we are called to know, to remember and to grow when it comes to God-centered parenting. All this for the good of our children, but even above that, for the glory of God. As we begin we will lay such a foundation as we focus on our faithful God who keeps covenant with families.

Passing On a Godly Legacy
At the end of the TV show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, they park a big bus in front of the new house and have the family standing there in anticipation to see what their new home looks like. They are encouraged to shout, “Move that bus!” The family is always overwhelmed when they see the beauty and blessing of their new home. How can we experience the beauty and blessing of a godly family? Is there a way to pass on a godly legacy? In the book of 1 Thessalonians, the apostle Paul told them that he had treated them like a mother and a father as he shared the gospel and his life with them. He was thankful that they had believed and he challenged them to be witnesses and to be his “glory and joy” (1 Thess. 2:20). In other words, Paul said you are my spiritual legacy. We can learn from Paul’s example to leave a Godly legacy to our family.
