“RUNNING ON EMPTY†Hurried Sickness: Restoring the Weary Heart Hurried sickness is a pattern of going too fast and doing too much for too long leaving you feeling physically, emotionally, relationally, and spiritually exhausted and empty. Hurried sickness is ultimately a confusion of priorities. Our time and energy become focused in the wrong direction. What is the greatest cost of hurried sickness? The ability to love - love and hurry are fundamentally incompatible. Love requires energy - energy is something that hurried people do not have. Love also requires passion, for hurried people passion is in short supply. Our top priority or purpose on this earth is to love God and other people with all our heart.

God's Judgment on Idolatry (Romans 1:24-32)
Paul points out that idolatry, rejection of God's goodness and authority, is at the root of all sin. Idolatry begets the sins that are listed in this passage; God gives up idolaters to impurity, dishonorable passions, and debased minds. But Paul also spells out the hope for sinful idolaters -- the One who was himself given up for our sake.

As such God himself, at great cost to his own Son, suffered for us and absorbed the penalty for sin. Why? That he might lavish mercy upon us and freely restore us to relationship with himself. He does the work and receives all glory.
