Where to Start the Conversation
Combining religion and politics is something not to be treaded lightly upon. In today's sermon we go back to Psalm 46 for the way we as Christians should approach this year's, and ever other, election or drastic change of current events.

Colossians 1:15-20
Colossians 1:15-20 Having told the young Christians at Colosse that they have been transferred from the domain of darkness into the Kingdom of the Beloved Son, Paul now explains the Beloved Son--Jesus. Jesus is not simply another ruler or another religious cult figure; He is the one through whom everything was created and He is the one through whom everything is being redeemed. As the supreme ruler of the universe, all other rulers not only owe their allegiance to him, but have been created for him and are sustained by him.

Blessed is the Nation...
In this week's message, we reflect on the values upon which the country of Canada was founded. And in light of current events in our country, we would do good to pause and think about how it is that we have strayed so far from our biblical foundations as a nation. Key Passages: Psalm 72:8, Psalm 144:15, Psalm 33, and Isaiah 1-6

Kingdom Purity: God and Caesar
Luke 20:19-26 In the second of 4 controversies, the leaders of Jerusalem try to trap Jesus in the area of politics. Do you think God's people should support a pagan ruler and a wicked regime? They think they have put Jesus into corner, but His brilliant answer not only wins the day, but also instructs our hearts as we live for God in the realm of Caesar.

Second,God has limited the authority of government. Peter reminds us in Act 5 that "we must obey God rather than man". Third, in Matthew 5 Jesus called us to be salt and light in our culture.

The Politics of Jesus
What is a Christian response to politics, taxes, and the government? In tonight's passage, Jesus takes on the liberal left and the conservative right, reveals them both as inadequate political options, and describes a new trajectory and means for being a politically involved people. What might it look like for us to embrace his way in our city, nation, and world?
