On The Other Side of the Gate
It seemed like Jesus had a lot to say about helping the poor. But most of our Christian culture is about living a fulfilled life now. Have we forgotten the fulfillment in helping each other? Could the answer to our issues simply be to stop thinking so much about ourselves?

Oppression
Audio quality is rough for the first 2.5min. Cultural minorities have been oppressed since the beginning of our time. What is God's heart on this subject? Are we really relating the love of Christ unto each other? All oppressors feel justified in their position; racists, Al-kida, even us christians. Yes, we do it too; often internally without even knowing it. This is a sermon that will challenge our position in modern society & melt away the wax that our lives have been cast from by digging into the root of social oppression.

Advent Conspiracy - Part 2 - Give More
Jesus said at the end of time, he would separate his true followers from the false based on how they ministered to Him (by giving to the least of these) when he was hungry, sick, poor, unclothed and imprisoned. This Christmas, give more to Jesus by giving to the poor and oppressed as we drill fresh water wells throughout Africa.

When Right is Wrong - Part 2
It seems like everywhere we look we encounter people who are only looking out for themselves. We see selfish people on the highway, at the grocery store and even in the bathroom mirror. Often our attitudes are driven by the deep conviction that we are better than others. In this section of his letter to the Corinthians, St. Paul says that there is a way to live that puts other people first and sees them as equals. This way of life is what God is all about. He takes it very seriously when we treat someone with prejudice or with pride. God’s desire is that we would emulate Jesus and live with humility, seeking equality and justice for others.

September 2, 2007 - Table Manners
Jesus uses the table fellowship to tell us to do two things: Carefully and humbly choose your own seat (he who exalts himself will be humbled and he who humbles himself will be exalted) and make a space for others at the table. Jesus frees us from competition and from making a name for ourselves. Our name comes from the one who saves us.

Soul Prosperity
We need to live in God’s righteousness, peace and joy on the inside all the time, not just cry out to God for it when we are in a crisis. Our soul is prospering when we are walking in step with Holy Spirit.

Remember the Poor
Those who seemed influential at Jerusalem added nothing to Paul or his gospel and received him and Barnabas with open arms. But there was one other thing they wanted from the Apostle... That he Remember the Poor. In this Sermon Pastor Jeremy explains that we should not show partiality in the church, that we should maintain unity in the gospel, and we Must Remember the Poor. Galatians 2:6-10

A Fast Pleasing to the Lord
A fast that is pleasing to the Lord is not what most people think that it is. It is not just denying yourself food and/or drink, pleasure or comforts in an attempt to get prayers answered or so that God might notice us and take pity on us. The kind of fast that pleases God is an active fast, not a passive one, where I take those things that I have gone without and give them to those that need them. By fasting this way, not only does God say in Isaiah that this is what he desires but we also find that as Jesus said, "when I was hungry you fed me, when I was naked you clothed me, when I was thirsty you gave me drink...so in actively fasting this way we are not just doing these things for Him but to Him.He will then give us a new name, "the restorer of broke walls".

James 5:1-9
There is a downward pull to the Gospel- it’s the same downward pull that brought Jesus to a dirty, dusty, barren place like Nazareth, and it’s the same downward pull that should move us into action. God gives us what he gives us for a reason. Don’t feel guilty about having a good job and earning good money. Feel guilty if you fail to use it wisely. Those who truly get the Gospel feel it’s downward pull and find that being like Jesus isn’t just about morality- though that’s part, or ethics, though that’s part. It’s not just about being nice and playing by the rules, or about getting my spiritual needs met. It’s about participating in God’s redemptive plan in the world- living in such a way that we see more and more people in relationship with Jesus and more and more people experiencing the justice and peace in whatever way possible, even limited or temporary that ultimately will come when Jesus Himself returns.

James 2:1-13- "Get Over Yourself"
James calls all of us to deny acts of favoritism, contending that our faith in Jesus is questionable if we do. God calls us to be merciful, as Christ was merciful. The poor are inheriting the kingdom of God, James calls us to recognize this and partner with God in serving alongside them.

Wealth & Poverty
Scriptures view of wealth and poverty simply cannot be squeezed into our contemporary economic options. We must recognize not only the dangers of wealth, but also the great potential that wealth brings for caring for the poor and needy. And while we realize that poverty can be the result of sloth, Proverbs reminds us that the rich have a responsibility to care for the poor.

Real Spirituality
God is seeking balance in our lives. He obviously care are about our worship, our learning from His Word and sharing life together. But that isn't the end of true spirituality. When we truly worship God, our hearts are captured by the things that matter to God...and God cares about the poor, the oppressed and the outcast. We must learn from Amos and begin to act in ways that will bring justice for those who are marginalized.
