Walking with God means saying yes to God's plan for your life, but it also means saying no to the world.
Sermon delivered by Pastor Ginger Medley as we approach the new year- 2013. She references Numbers 14:1-6 to emphasize the following 4 points: 1) Change your Position to maximize your potential in 2013; 2) Don't live life in the rear view mirror; look forward and strive for more; 3) Take action; Pray; Speak Out. Discover your external motivations and let the fertilizer in your life maximize your growth in 2013; and 4) Jesus is the gateway to abundant life (John 10:9-10)
Upper Story: This reality is that God loves us and wants to have an exclusive relationship with us. God want’s this for two reasons: 1) He made us 2) As our Maker He knows anything other than an exclusive relationship will bring harm to us. In the Lower Story there is the adversary. Satan lives to distort reality. He knows that if he get us to live within his distortion two results will happen: 1) We are weakened 2) We divide our loyalty between God and sinful nature
My introduction to the Lord’s prayer was, perhaps like most of you, as a child. We memorized it and got a pencil or something for our memory work. In our Baptist tradition, we have not recited this prayer as often as other Christian traditions. My next phase of interaction with this prayer was as an athlete. Unfortunately, as a team, we said this prayer more as a cheer, I’m afraid, then as a prayer. Only in more recent years has this prayer had for me the kind of impact that Jesus intended. I went through it slowly a few years ago, studying the prayer phrase by phrase. I shared some of that during Wednesday evening prayer time and Bible Study.

It's easy to be overwhelmed by God's massive grace that he saved us from death and has forgivem us of our sins. We are able to always look back and see the great mercy of our God in our salvation. Because of these great truths, Wes will show us what Christ has saved us to. Namely, in this sermon, a Royal Priesthood. In this sermon we will see the glorious position that Christ has put us in and how we have the joy of proclaiming the excellencies of his name.
