Be The Alternative: Ecomomics
What is the church to do? We are called to "be the alternative" to the ways of the world. In this message, Pastor Simmons speaks to the example that Christians can provide with our use of money, or the "currency of power," in a world where the desperate love of money leads to "ruin and destruction" (I Tim. 6:9-10).

Sunday Sermon for Week 21-09
Paul teaches that Christ is deep in our hearts by faith, not by good works, not by going to church, not by trying to lead a good Christian life, but by faith. We are firmly rooted on a foundation of Christ’s love. Our battle is to be who we are in Jesus. The presence of Jesus in our lives surpasses our knowledge to articulate it. Knowledge is important, but the love of Christ surpasses that knowledge. God is able to do immensely more than we can ask or even imagine. The implication of this is that He is doing things in our lives that we do not know anything about now. Our simple calling is go be who you are and watch for God. In all things, to Him be the glory.

Act(s) I Scene I
In Scene I of Act I of the Book of Acts, we see Jesus instructing the disciples to go to Jerusalem and wait on the power of the Holy Spirit. The Promise of the Father would surely come and the result of that promise would enable and empower them to do the mission set forth by the King. Only then are we able to be found "so doing" when the King returns to gather His kingdom.

Babylonian Bar and Bistro
Every day followers of Jesus face a myriad of choices that define their citizenship and their loyalties. We walk with a tentative step and live in a constant state of "tension". How can we live IN this Babylonian world, and YET not be poisoned by the waters? Is it possible to sit at the barstool with friends and neighbors who are drinking deeply from the "kegs" of life that offer them power, pleasure, sex, money and fame - and yet be unaffected myself? Won't my friend next to me wonder why I'm not drinking from the same cup as they are? Won't I stand out like a sore thumb? Key Passage: Revelation 17:1 - 19:5
