In Daniel 6 we read of Daniel's consistency in obeying God rather than man. How does he do that when facing certain death? How might we be able to emulate Daniel's faith and not lose heart like King Darius?
Too often we pray with cynicism; we think that God could answer, but he's probably not going to. Instead, we should pray with faith. Faith that when we are persistent in our request, God will respond.

Preacher: Pastor Tony Simpson. Passage: Philippians 4 vv4-7. Paul commands the Philippians to be a people of joy, a people of gentleness, a people of prayer and a people of peace. He reminds them that the basis of these things is not their present circumstances but the gospel truths regarding their union with Christ, their restored relationship with their God, and their final vindication at the return of Christ.
In our text we see a mother’s request for her sons and what a request it was. We see momma Zebedee looking out for the best interests and spiritual life of her boys. It seems like Mrs. Zebedee was being a little selfish and overprotective for her sons. However, I believe she was just trying to be certain that when the Lord established His kingdom, her boys would have positions of responsibility and authority- she just wanted the very best for her sons.
