Sermons About Priest
The new covenant
I have often wondered why people love ornate churches – why some people find great satisfaction in beautiful religious paintings. Is it the architecture of the building, or the genius of the artist? This idea of formal religion – so dominant on the continent of Europe – continues with pomp and ceremony in the spectacle of processions and costumes. Why is that? Isn’t it that people love the tangible; they find it easier to grasp what is seen rather than what is unseen? That’s why the first Christians were tempted to turn away from following Jesus and return to Jewish ritual. With no priesthood on earth, we can understand how the young Jewish Christians longed to go back to the colourful, observable priest in the temple.

Who's the Boss
While it may seem to be an obscure or possibly irrelevant passage, the story of Micah and the Levite is an important reminder for us that God's word should direct us in all things, and not our desires for comfort and control.

Hope you can believe in. Change that is secure. That's the promise of Psalm 110. In this Psalm, frequently quoted by New Testament writers, we read of a king and priest that would deliver his people once and for all.
