This exposition of 1 Peter 2:4-10 reminds believers of the awesome status we enjoy as the people of God because of Jesus and calls them to "proclaim the excellencies of Him who called us out of the darkness and into His marvelous light!"

Jesus Christ & The Word, Pt. 2 (Matthew 5:17)
How can you be sure that Jesus Christ is everything that He says He is? How can you be sure that He alone is the true revelation of God? He alone is the only acceptable sacrifice for sin? And what about the OT, the Law & the prophets, did Jesus completely to away with those things? These are questions that many today ask and they are questions that Jesus’ original hearers were asking also. And it is these He addresses in our passage.

God's Special People
. As we “come to Jesus” – touching the Living Stone – we live and touch others and so the “spiritual house” is built. We serve in His courts as “a holy priesthood offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God”. Believers whose lives are built upon the “chief cornerstone” fulfill a role of ministry to both God and to the world. This role is described in our text today – we are “a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation” and the “people of God”.

A Royal Priesthood
My purpose in preaching this passage is to show you this morning what your sacred calling is as a Christian. I also want to free you from the mindset of having to sit and wonder what it is that God has called you to as a ministry. I want you to understand that every Christian has a sacred calling to minister as a New Covenant priest and God has already said what the offering is to be. I also want you to understand that these sacrifices are not additions to the sacrifice of Christ but are proof positive of the radical change in you as the sacrifice of Christ has been applied to you in salvation and made you free to serve the living God with a clear conscience. Next week we will look at our priestly duty toward the church.

Hebrews 4:14-5:10 Jesus, The Priest Whose Actions Do Not Bring Lawsuits
When you hear the word, "priest," what immediately comes to your mind? Do you think of someone with a dark outfit and a white clerical collar? Do you think of someone who should be shackled in handcuffs after embarrassing the Kingdom of God? Is the office of Priest still open today?
