Staying On The Mountain
An Attitude of Gratitude, part 2 Staying on the Mountain Philippians 3:1-11 Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord! It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a safeguard for you. Philippians 3:1 Three Guardrails to Keep You on the Mountain of Joy 1. RESIST legalistic attitudes (attitude determines altitude) Watch out for those dogs, those men who do evil, those mutilators of the flesh. For it is we who are the circumcision, we who worship by the Spirit of God, who glory in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh. Philippians 3:2-3 Guardrail: LIVE EACH DAY BY GRACE For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 2. REEVALUATE your priorities But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ . . . Philippians 3:7-8 Guardrail: KEEP YOUR PRIORITIES IN PERSPECTIVE "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions." Luke 12:15 3. REFOCUS your ambitions I want to KNOW Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death . . . Philippians 3:10 For my determined purpose is that I may KNOW Him that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly . . . (amplified version) 3 Ways to Grow in Knowing Christ (the 3 “T’s”) 1. 2. 3.

Embracing Balance
Imbalance leads to frustration and fatigue. As Jesus balanced his life; we need to do the same. We need to have mental balance; physical balance; social balance and spiritual balance. In order to move toward balanced living I need to evaluate my life and adjust my priorities.

Church Arise, It's War
“It is not yet time to rebuild the house of the Lord,” said Israel. This is the attitude of a Christianity that is more concerned with her own kingdom than God’s. God has called His people to be completely consumed with Him. Instead, too often we are distracted by all the details of life. Further, when we fail to place His purposed as the utmost priority, we fall away from the Truth in our thinking and our actions. Most Christians think that they will never take the mark of the beast, but we must ask ourselves, whose image are we being conformed to now? Many Christians think that they would die for Christ, but we must ask ourselves who are we living for now? Are our thoughts, concerns, and actions sowing toward God’s Kingdom, or are we more concerned with our own lives? Now is, in fact, the time to rebuild the House of the Lord–and the Scripture declares that we are His temple! The devil is out to destroy the Kingdom of God, and he desires to pull us aside from following after God with our whole-hearts. It is time for the Church to take her place and fight for full surrender to Christ.

Living Without Regret
Everything looks different from Christ's perspective. One view we seldom remember is that one day, everyone will stand before Him to be judged. How might that fact change how we live today?

It Only Works if You Drink It
It Only Works if You Drink It John 4: 1-42 v.14 “Whosoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” When we meet, is it present? How can we tell? Do first time attenders experience it? Can it be programmed into our gatherings? Where can I buy it ? If it doesn’t show …well, why not? WHAT is it anyhow? It is not unusual that we come to God on a regular basis, yet seldom seem to experience the thirst quenching relationship that we want and that should be ours. Either there is a problem with the water or we are not drinking it. Here is a woman that responds immediately and completely to a brief encounter with Jesus? She not only changes, but because of her response her city is changed. What did she do that we don’t? 1. An awareness of and a willingness to address the thirst within. v.15 “Sir give me this water that I may never thirst, nor come here to draw.” 2. A willingness to change priorities when confronted with a solution. v.28 “And the woman then left her water pot and went her way….” 3. A willingness of personal exposure for the sake of something greater. v.29 “Come and see a Man that told me all things that I ever did.” v.39 “And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman….” A wise person chooses a destiny and accepts the road. A foolish person chooses a road and accepts the destiny.
