Jesus First Visit to His Father's House
I. Jesus devout and godly parents (21-24, 17b) *The importance of obedient, godly parents in the life of Jesus as well as in our own children. II. The righteous and devout Simeon (25-35) *He was waiting for the consolation of Israel *The Holy Spirit was upon him. (25) *He received divine revelation from the Spirit. *He was moved by the Holy Spirit (27) *He composed a prophetic hymn (29-32) *Simeon blesses Mary and Joseph and gives them a prophetic word concerning Jesus' effect on humanity and His mother Mary! (33-35) 1. Jesus will cause the rising and falling of many in Israel 2. He will be a sign that will be spoken against 3. Many hearts will be revealed through his birth life and death and subsequent word through Holy Spirit (John 16:8-11) III. The prophetess Anna (36-38) *This widow's life was dedicated to the Lord in worship, fasting and prayer...day and night!

Repent!

They were all looking for the Messiah . . . they just did not realize that He would be the Prophet (Dt 18), the Suffering Servant (Is 53), and the King (2 Sam 7).
