The Risks of Telling It Like It Is
The witnesses came unequipped of any personal influence or abilities They were clothed in sackcloth Coats of course goat hair Worn by those in mourning or as a sign of repentance Do we look at the world as mourners because of the unwillingness of the lost to repent and receive? They were given the power to prophesy We cannot go forward in our own strength and abilities if we want to succeed in reaching the lost. Our power comes through the Holy Spirit and our willingness to submit to His leading They were willing to pay the ultimate price for the sake of the gospel. How much are we willing to sacrifice for the sake of reaching lost souls? Time – finances They were protected by God, but God’s glory came through their martyrdom. Ultimately, their sacrifices were vindicated by God.
From Earth to Heaven; From Time to Eternity
Where does God fit into your life today? We will acknowledge and praise Him for eternity. Does He have that place on the throne of our lives today. Are we viewing Him through the lens of eternity or just for this moment in time?
The Millennium
Two days from today, America will once again elect the president who will lead us for another four-year term. I know how critical this election is because we are choosing the main leader who can lead this nation either uphill or downhill. I’ve been hearing that there are a lot Christians who are thinking of skipping this election because they don’t believe their vote will really make a difference. I don’t agree! I believe that we have to exercise this privilege as believers because we can be instruments of the Lord to positively affect this nation. The Bible plainly states that we are the salt and light of this world. I believe that when we vote, we can help steer this country towards the Lord. We can be instruments in sowing righteousness by voting for candidates who closely support our moral values and biblical principles. Our choice should not be based on political parties. We should choose the one who can help build a nation who takes the side of God and the Bible. Almost all of us want God to bless America, but this is not going to happen if we continue to oppose God and His moral values. Proverbs 14:34 reminds us about this truth. 34 Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.
Great Tribulation Plagues Part 2
One of the major signs predicted about the “last days” is that the world will experience “terrible times.” The Greek word used for terrible literally suggests difficult or dangerous. Does this word appropriately describe our time? With the coming Presidential election on November 6, all of us have listened to several debates on how the presidential candidates will resolve the problems of our society. Frankly speaking, whoever wins the election will be facing greater challenges as we move closer and closer to the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. Why do we say this? Well, when you examine 2 Timothy 3, the main cause of our society’s problems is man’s increasing tendency to move away from God and express his or her sinfulness. The reality is that our chief problem is not the economy, unemployment, the rising prices of oil, etc. It is man’s sinfulness being displayed without fear or shame. Notice how the apostle Paul described some of them – lovers of themselves, lovers of money . . . proud, abusive . . . disobedient to parents . . . without self- control . . . not lovers of the good. . . lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God – having a form of godliness but denying its power. . . You can keep reading 2 Timothy 3 until verse 9 and the list of sinful characteristics continues.
The Second Coming of Jesus Christ
As far as I am concerned, I absolutely believe that the world won’t end on December 21 this year. How can I be so sure? As a student of the Bible, this is not consistent with what is taught by the prophets and apostles. If you take what they have written, there are some very specific events that must take place first before the end of the world. Our topic this morning, which is the second coming of Jesus Christ, comes as the very first in the sequence of events in the last days.
