Sermons About Reconcile
Colossians 1:15-23 - Jesus, the Reconciler of All Things
When we think of Christmas we often think of things like “peace, joy, love, good-will, charityâ€. But I realize not all of us associate Christmas with warm feelings. Some of us associate stress, anxiety, credit card bills with Christmas – any joy you could have is sucked into the black hole of Christmas craziness. And still, there are some who carry deep wounds because one year during Christmas, something happened – a parent got angry and did something that you have never been able to recover from. You and a sibling got into an argument and the rift continues to this day. Your spouse left you around Christmas time for someone else and now Christmas is nothing but a painful reminder of brokenness in your life and your relationships. No matter where you are today, you have come to the right place. What we’re going to talk about is something that puts all of this into perspective - how God sent his Son into the world to bring healing and reconciliation to all.

Advent: Peace 2008
What we need with God is shalom. We need peace with Him. We need our hearts to raise the white flag and surrender. We need the war between us to end. And that is exactly what Jesus was sent here to accomplish for us. He came as the ultimate olive branch. He came as the dove of God. He came as the very Prince of Peace. Since this is the case, what we see today is that it isn’t so much a need for God to prove His love to you more than He has by sending the gift of His Son, but our learning of and understanding what He’s done for us brings us this peace. In other words, the more you realize that God’s favor rests upon you (v. 14), the more you’ll experience peace. The favor of the only eyes in the universe that matter is calling you to great joy at this good news. God desires that we would join the angels in crying out to God, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace.†And we could finish this by saying, “because God’s favor rests on us—on me!â€

The Church’s Unity in Christ
When Jesus Christ reconciled us to God, he also reconciled us to one another and made us a people – the church. Once we were alienated from God and from God’s people, but now in Christ the wall of hostility has been torn down and we are brought near to God and to one another.

Building a Garrison of Peace
Conflict is a common issue in any church or ministry. In the Philippian church, 2 strong ladies were engaged in some sort of dispute that was public enough to reach the ears of the Apostle Paul in jail. Paul interrupted his letter here to encourage them to find a solution and encourage others to see them as true believers whose names were written in the "book of life." In the bible, there are 2 books of life - 1) the book of the living - a book that you can be blotted out of and 2) the book of eternal life - a book that you cannot be blotted out of. In light of this, Paul says to us that there are to needs you have to garrison your life. The first need is to know that this garrison in your life is a garrison of peace. Here, Paul encouraged the women - Euodia and Syntyche - to reconcile and called alone a true companion to assist in the reconciliation process. Secondly, Paul tells us how to build this "garrison of peace" in our lives by giving several imperatives for peaceful living. These imperatives include: 1) Rejoice always, 2) Be Gentle, 3) Don't Worry, 4) Pray 5) Trust in Peace. There is a marvelous progression that Paul's imperatives bring, and what grace they would mean for the Philippians and us as they are implemented.
