Sermons About Reconciliation
Colossians 1:15-23 - Jesus, the Reconciler of All Things
When we think of Christmas we often think of things like “peace, joy, love, good-will, charityâ€. But I realize not all of us associate Christmas with warm feelings. Some of us associate stress, anxiety, credit card bills with Christmas – any joy you could have is sucked into the black hole of Christmas craziness. And still, there are some who carry deep wounds because one year during Christmas, something happened – a parent got angry and did something that you have never been able to recover from. You and a sibling got into an argument and the rift continues to this day. Your spouse left you around Christmas time for someone else and now Christmas is nothing but a painful reminder of brokenness in your life and your relationships. No matter where you are today, you have come to the right place. What we’re going to talk about is something that puts all of this into perspective - how God sent his Son into the world to bring healing and reconciliation to all.

Born to Die
Sometimes you have to look backward to move forward. Believe it or not, Christmas originally did not revolve around heightened stress levels, maxed out credit cards, and a big man in a furry suit. This year, we invite you to step back in time. The true story behind Christmas is a historical event filled with people a lot like us. Like us, they often struggled to make ends meet. Like us, they battled tall odds to keep their families intact. And like us, as Christmas arrived on the scene, they had no idea what was coming. Come explore the story of Vintage Christmas. If you listen closely it will change your life.

The Justification of Sinners (Romans 8:1)
Paul turns in Romans 8 to consider the amazing privileges of the justification that he has spelled out in the preceding chapters. The sinner's cry for deliverance at the end of Romans 7 is answered in this: in Christ there is no condemnation. We review the nature of our sin and guilt, the wonderful goodness of God in providing propitiation and reconciliation for us, and finally how this comes about -- through our union with Christ.

Biblical Confrontation
We often hear messages about the need for reconciliation, but few times do we hear about the process for reconciliation that Jesus spoke about. In Matthew 18 we address the questions that many of us have--isn't "judging others wrong? who am I to confront others when I have so much sin in my life? Hasn't church discipline hurt others? When understood in the light of the whole chapter and in light of the cross and God's work in us, discipline and confrontation can be a wonderful way to see God's grace at work. Be mindful, though, that mercy, grace, gentleness and humility are much needed.

Through the Curtain - True Greatness
People pursue greatness. What is true greatness? Jesus defines it by his death. Greatness is access to the presence of God - as he turns aside wrath and is abandoned so that we can go through the curtain.
