Sermons About Reconciliation
Who is Jesus?
Many people think Jesus is another Bigfoot. He’s Santa Claus. He’s the tooth fairy. Yes he was a real person – but what we know of him is all made up. But the Bible gives a very different picture of Jesus of Nazareth. Who was He really? Every Easter and Christmas every magazine and TV channel does a special on it. Now it’s time to hear what the Bible has to say about whom Jesus is and what that means for how we are to live.

An Emerging Humanity
This is a message from Colossians 3:9-17. Becoming what Christ has saved us to be requires not only the putting off of old ways, but the putting on of new practices, embracing his peace, and having his word dwelling in our hearts.

Blessed are the peacemakers...
In a world that so desperately needs to SEE the tangible expressions of the kingdom of God coming to reign...Jesus steps to the "podium" and begins to detail what life in the "here and now" should look like. We've spent our summer weekends digging into the practical characteristics of this new life...and this weekend we deal with a deeply personal, proactive, and sometimes controversial role we are called to play...that of actively "making peace." When we look at Jesus' life, we recognize that He did not just stand by while the world spiraled out of control...He stepped in. He stood between opposing parties and stretched out His arms in reconciliation. He calls us to do the same! Key Passage: Matthew 5:9

Being What you will Become
Set your mind on things above. Put to death the things in you that do not belong to your new life in Christ.

Filled In Him
Jesus lacks no resources. Everything he is for his glory, he is to his people for their good. We are filled in Him, so don't be taken captive by any other idea or person or cultural dream.

Building a Garrison of Peace
Conflict is a common issue in any church or ministry. In the Philippian church, 2 strong ladies were engaged in some sort of dispute that was public enough to reach the ears of the Apostle Paul in jail. Paul interrupted his letter here to encourage them to find a solution and encourage others to see them as true believers whose names were written in the "book of life." In the bible, there are 2 books of life - 1) the book of the living - a book that you can be blotted out of and 2) the book of eternal life - a book that you cannot be blotted out of. In light of this, Paul says to us that there are to needs you have to garrison your life. The first need is to know that this garrison in your life is a garrison of peace. Here, Paul encouraged the women - Euodia and Syntyche - to reconcile and called alone a true companion to assist in the reconciliation process. Secondly, Paul tells us how to build this "garrison of peace" in our lives by giving several imperatives for peaceful living. These imperatives include: 1) Rejoice always, 2) Be Gentle, 3) Don't Worry, 4) Pray 5) Trust in Peace. There is a marvelous progression that Paul's imperatives bring, and what grace they would mean for the Philippians and us as they are implemented.
