Jesus was delivered for our offenses, and was raised again for our justification!
In Zechariah 9:9, we see that the people of Israel were called to rejoice greatly in the promise of a coming King who is righteous and bringing salvation. How much more ought we rejoice at this King since the prophesy has been fulfilled? Will we, like the people on Palm Sunday, miss this King or will we rejoice at who he is?
Is there really joy in repentance? God certainly says there is. So this leads to a variety of good questions, among them...why do some people not repent? Bob serves as an elder of New Life Christian Church.
After telling the Philippians to stand firm in the Lord, Paul addresses a specific situation where gospel reconciliation needs to be applied to a broken relationship in the church. In this context Paul calls for them to continue to rejoice in the Lord and to seek God's help in prayer.
Paul is clear that the great call of the Christian is to rejoice in the beauty of Christ, and in doing so, Paul regarded everything (especially his religious accomplishments) as one big loss . . . a steaming pile of "poop"!
