Sermons About Relationship
Relationship Wreckers
Why was Jesus so angry about the market and money-changers in God's temple? Was it because they were selling stuff in church...not really. Was it because they were ripping people off and taking advantage of them when they were trying to come make sacrifices to God...getting warmer. To sum it up, Jesus was so angry because the church leaders had built a wall of rules and regulations that had made it impossible for the people to have a relationship with God! So many things put in the way of the people just trying to get to God! Do we do that? Do we get in the way? Do our "rules" that aren't really God's rules create a stumbling block? Jesus wants us to be in relationship with him and He has made it so easy...all we have to do is accept His gift. Relationship is king!

Doing life together
Prayer is an ongoing relationship with God in which we share life together. When one looks at the life and teaching of Jesus in the area of prayer it becomes quite evident that prayer is about relationship and keeping conversation with God; a two-way dialogue of speaking and listening. Throughout the Scriptures we see Jesus living this truth - we see Him giving requests to His Father about life and ministry and we see Him listening to what His Father has for Him. Key Passage: 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Ecclesiastes 4
Solomon turns from death and despair to consider human relationships, and leads off with this penetrating insight: at a core level, we are all anti-neighbor. We feel like we are in competition with one another, and constantly trying to prove our worth by outperforming one another. This effects all of our relationships, making real, vulnerable, intimate relationship something beyond our grasp. How can we become the kind of community that overcomes this twisted motivation?
