The Church of Sardis: Revelation 3:1-6
This church’s strength is its greatest weakness. This church has the reputation of being alive. However, this reputation has caused them to take their eyes off of Jesus and look to themselves. Jesus calls them to remember the message they received and heard. They were dead in their sins until Jesus came and lived a perfect life and shed his precious blood on their behalf on a roman cross to wash away their sins and clothe them in clean garments of his righteousness. He is the one who is alive and we only live, if we live, through him. All boasting must be in him and in what he has accomplished on the cross. This letter is a call for the church which bears the name Christian to need, love, and treasure Christ. We need to wake up from our delusional self-reliance, and remember when Jesus was our only hope. Remember that you are dead and you need Jesus and the Holy Spirit, which he alone can give, to make you alive.

Don't forget to live
I see it everyday. My face in the mirror. It reminds me of a lot of things. Rugged good looks, wow, that was awkward, sorry digressed there for a second. I see tired lines, aged skin, and seemingly empty eyes sometimes. I see decisions that I have made. Decisions based on what I think is best, what others have recommended or what they told me to do in a book. But how often does my face ex‐ claim that, today, I fell to my knees in humble adoration to the Father. Today I prayed to Him. Today, as much as I humanly could, I gave God the decision making power. Not often enough. What about you? Key Passage: Psalm 127

2 Samuel 23:8-39 - Hail to the Cheifs
This passage is all about David's mighty men who with valor and loyalty supported David and his kingdom. We must understand that living in God's Kingdom is a community exercise. The church (the body of Christ) is an essential means of grace that God uses to sactify our hearts to keep on following the Lord. We all can learn the following principles from these men about how to keep our hearts from going astray from our Lord: 1) Give Credit to God for Victory, 2) Worship God in Difficulties, 3) Trust in God's provision, 4) Let sinful memories humble you. It is so easy for our hearts to drift away from Holiness and following the Lord Jesus. Make it your aim to guard your heart by noting the principle examples of these men who were loyal to David as you seek to live out your liife within the body of Christ for the honor of God.
