Sermons About Repent
Sin Is All About Us
There is no "I" in team and the middle of sin is "I". Sin is all about us. It is when we remove our focus from God and set it on ourselves.

Saying Yes, When God Says Yes
When "no" puts Jonah at odds with God, God does what it takes to make Jonah say "yes." It's not the path he wants to walk, but he goes to Ninevah and proclaims God's words.

Repenting and Following God
After Jonah is spit back up on the beach by the fish God sent to rescue him, God again tells Jonah to go preach to the Ninevites. This time Jonah obeys, and after Jonah proclaims God’s impending judgment all of the Ninevites from the king on down repent of their evil ways and hope for mercy from God. God relents from destroying Nineveh because mercy and compassion are a part of His very nature. Jonah understood this, and his anger at the prospect of the Ninevites avoiding judgment and receiving grace is what led him to run away to Tarshish in the first place. God sent a vine and then a worm and a scorching wind to expose Jonah’s sinful heart and reveal his self-righteousness and how he loves his own comfort more than other people. We are just like Jonah in that we often think we deserve God’s kindness more than other people and we love our own comfort more than our calling to be like Jonah and be ambassador’s of God’s grace to warn people of their impending judgment and urge them to repent and turn to Jesus Christ.

Running from God as Fast as I Can
God has a plan to bring repentance to the citizens of Nineveh, and has tells the prophet Jonah to go there and warn them that God is going to judge the city soon. Jonah wants nothing to do with God’s plan so he boards a ship headed in the opposite direction to run away. There’s nowhere that you can get away from God and He sends a violent storm against the ship. The sailors throw Jonah overboard to try to quell God’s anger and the storm. God has mercy on Jonah and sends a large fish to swallow Jonah to keep him from drowning, and then miraculously keeps him alive for three days inside the fish. While in the fish Jonah repents of his running from God and gives God glory for saving him. In our own ways we all foolishly run from God and run instead to our own hobbies, addictions, careers, and distractions, and we all need to examine our own lives to see how we run from God and then repent of our sin and turn back to Him.

The Coming Day of Wrath (Romans 2:1-16)
We live in light of the coming day of wrath, first, by thinking rightly of the sin of others; we are no better than others and must not presume on God's grace. Second, by giving ourselves to good works, not as an attempt to save ourselves, but in faithfulness, gratitude and love. Third, by thinking rightly of those who have never heard the gospel; their problem is not that they have not heard, but that they have seen God and rejected him. The only way that we will escape the judgment of God is through Jesus's death, sacrifice, and washing our sins away.

Big Brother: In the Family Business
When Jesus was criticized for spending time with "unsavory characters" He responded with three parables -- demonstrating that God seeks out the lost, the lost are highly valued by Him, and that their return brings celebration. This has crucial implications for both those who are far from God and those who are comfortably within his family. . .

The Forerunner: John the Baptist
John the Baptist The Man, The Message, and the legacy. Jesus called John the greatest man born of woman. It wasn't because of his appearance, or how much money he had, It was because he submitted his life to Christ as we are all to do. The kingdom of heaven is near, just like it was in John's day. Jesus is coming soon the question is will we be ready. Will we be able to say that we have allowed Jesus to be more and self to be less?

Is That Faith Alive?
Among those who believe they are right with God, there are two kinds of people: Those who really are right, and those who only THINK they are. How can we tell the difference? Those who are right with God have a living faith. A faith that loves God and responds to his conviction and discipline in their lives. Key Verses: Lu 18:10-14, Rev 3:15-19, Lu 19:1-10, Jas 2:14-18, Jer 25:2-11, Gal 5:19-20, Rev 3:19

Are You Ready to Repent And Believe the Good News?
At the beginning of Jesus' public ministry, he makes three short statements: (1) God's Kingdom is here. This is new. (2) Repent . . . reorient your thinking . . . change your lifestyle. Stop living like it's yesterday, last month, or last year. (3) Believe the good news. Lift your expectations. The kingdom is here whether you believe it or not, but your decision to believe it will open a door for you to participate. In this talk, lead pastor Ray Befus examines Jesus' main message as recorded in Mark 1:14-15, and its application to modern life.

You Can Break New Ground
Many followers of Christ become complacent about their spiritual growth. They need a spiritual revival to bring them back to a healthy relationship with God. If a farmer wants to plant crops in a new field, there are three actions he must take. And, in order for you to break new ground in your life, you need to follow the same plan.

Unless You Repent
The Lord Jesus spoke about the importance of repentance in today's scripture. In fact, He says it is necessary for every person to repent in order to have eternal life. Since repentance is such a key Christian concept, what do we need to understand about repentance?

Acts 23:12-35 – A Tool in the Hand of God
With the approval of the religious authorities forty men vowed to kill Paul. The plan was divulged to the military authorities, who escorted Paul safely to Caesarea for trial. In all of this God was using people who were both willing and unwilling to follow Him to bring about His good plan of bringing the truth about Jesus to the highest seats of power in the Roman Empire. God will use us like tools for His purposes whether we want to participate or not, and rather than rebel against His plans and commands like a rebellious teenager we should understand that like a good father God genuinely loves us, wants to protect us from our own stupidity, and wants to include us in His great works so that we can build a stronger relationship with Him. In response we should repent of our rebellion, respect Him for His goodness and power, and offer up our lives to Him to be a part of His great plan for spreading His Gospel to people everywhere.

Acts 18:1-18 - Preaching in Sin City
Paul’s missionary journey brought him to Corinth, a city with a reputation for immorality that would make Las Vegas blush. Paul first brought the Gospel to the synagogues, where the Jewish people there needed to hear that Jesus was their long-promised Messiah and they were not made right with God by following the Old Testament rules. He then told the Gentiles in Corinth about Jesus and how God had called them to repent of their sinful ways. In the same way God calls us to faith in Christ and to give up both the empty rules that we keep because we think they make us holy and the immoral habits that we practice that displease God and aren’t fitting for a child of God to do.

John 18:1-27 - Failing God
The people who should have been helping Jesus the most were the ones who let Him down the most. Christ was betrayed by Judas, run through an illegal trial by the high priests, and denied by Peter. We too fail Christ, but just as He forgave and restored Peter despite his failures, He will give grace and forgiveness to if we come to him in repentance, no matter what our sin is.

John 4:43-54 - Signs Only Work If You Follow Them
Some people saw the miraculous signs that Jesus performed and saw that He was the Messiah, while others ignored them, causing them to miss out on the new life offered by Christ. Today God gives us warnings and shows us signs through the Bible, and we have a gracious but limited amount of chances to heed them, repent of our sins, and turn to Christ.

John 3:1-16 - The Search for Truth
Many people set out in their life on a search for the truth but most get bogged down along the way by their preconceptions and refusal to admit to their sins and change. Nicodemus comes to Jesus in search of the truth and Jesus confronts his preconceptions and teaches him that he must be 'born again' by the Spirit of God so that he can see his sins, repent, and accept Christ's forgiveness and righteousness.
