Sermons About Revelation
Jesus for President
Jesus for President? It almost sounds funny to put those words in the same sentence. In our day when we are so very careful to keep religion and politics separate, it may be difficult to face the reality that the Revelation is a strikingly political book of insubordination against an anti-Christian "empire". While John uses "veiled" language to build his case, it is clear that the ruling empire of the day (Rome) was being implicated as an instrument of Satan! Wow! Can you imagine the pressure we would face if we stood against the state with such vitriolic words? But remember - John was a prisoner of the state! And he wasn't there for towing the party line! He was there because the reigning powers of the day saw danger in the eyes of this little old man! What does the world see when they look in your eyes or mine? Perhaps it's no coincidence that we are talking politics in an election week! Revelation 12-15 is our text - hold on for the ride!

LIVING BY FAITH: for the Lord and thru Overwhelming Trials (1 Kings 17:1-24) 05-10-09
INTRODUCTION: Today’s Topic: Faith. Today’s Passage in Context (adapted from the ESV Study Bible): --> Some Themes found in 1 Kings [the LORD “Yahweh” is the only true God, the only One worthy to be worshipped, Who judges those who worship false gods, and Who is also just, gracious, and faithful to His promises]; --> Some Highlights of 1 Kings 17-22 [God is working miracles thru the prophet Elijah (including a drought, supernatural provisions for daily life, raising the dead, and answering by fire) to show all Israel that the false gods of Baal (and all other false gods) are not true gods. Only the LORD, the God of Israel, is God, He alone has power over life & death, and He will judge the house of the evil King Ahab for his wickedness (yet God is still merciful and deals graciously with Ahab after he humbles himself)]. LIVING BY FAITH FOR THE LORD: --> Thru Revelation: with a God-Centered Perspective & Purpose (v1); --> Thru Obedience: to God’s Word & His Call on Our Lives (vs2-5, 10); --> Thru Trust: in God’s Provisions (of Supernatural & Ordinary means) (vs6-10). LIVING BY FAITH THRU OVERWHELMING TRIALS: --> When all Hope is Gone (vs8-12); In Spite of our Fears (v13); --> By Giving our All to Jesus vs13-15; --> By Experiencing God thru Obedience (vs15-16); --> By Persevering unto Maturity (vs17-24).

In the Beginning, Part 1
Why are we doing this series? 1.) We need to know the truth so we can tell others about Christ with confidence. 2.) We want God to set our mission on FIRE! 3.) To worship Jesus through the study of His word. 4.) To equip the saints to do God's work.

Stronger
As a kid I can remember standing beside my dad singing the old song "little is much when God is in it...". Profound statement, actually. No matter what I am involved in, from tucking the kids in bed, filling my car with gas, texting a friend, closing a business deal, or running for office, God is in it. God is involved. And that forever changes the little and the much. Key Passage: Revelation 13:1-10

Living with the Loose Ends of Life
God has revealed to us all we need to know, but not all there is to know. Sometimes, when we ask "Why Lord" God doesn't answer. Trusting God when we don't understand isn't easy, but when we do trust him we find that he is utterly faithful and entirely trustworthy. Living with the loose ends of life means trusting God even when we don't have all the answers.

Part three of the series wrapped up Alan's heart and was, as always, followed by personal prophetic words. All were incredibly blessed.

Courage Under Fire
If you ever watched a hockey game and your favourite team is down by one goal in the third period in game seven with one minute left, then you know how intense those 60 seconds can be. When a team is trying to make a comeback and they find themselves in that position they will do whatever it takes to beat their opponent - no risk is too great. John, in Revelation 12, describes a similar situation (ok, the analogy breaks down - just humour me please). John tells us that Satan is a defeated foe. The devil knows his time is very limited (he's in the last minute of the game) and as a result he's pulling out all the stops. He is not only raging mad - but he will do whatever it takes to try and beat down and destroy those who are on his opponent's team. John wants us to have courage under fire. He wants us to remain obedient and faithful knowing that Satan's time to destroy is short and through the blood of Jesus Christ we will overcome. Key Passage: Revelation 12

Something To Hold On To
The Scriptures which are contained in, and only in, the Old and New Testaments are to be the final rule for the faith and life of every true believer. Anything else is compromise with the world and its system of beliefs. When faced with temptations to compromise, from without and within, we should remember the church at Pergamum and learn from them how to hold onto Jesus and to the faith once for all delivered to the saints.

Part two continues to bring us into a deeper understanding of how we can be "strong in the Lord" in any times.

"Living emotionally stable in uncertain times"- pt. 1
Our brother from Scotland brought a powerful 3-part series. This first of the three was followed by some "spot-on" personal prophetic words.
