The Disturbed Heart
This is indeed a special week in the Christian calendar, as we celebrate what Christians called - “The Feast of the Nativity of Jesus Christ.†During Advent we have been looking at some of the heart conditions that can cause us to miss His coming. Today in the Word we will consider The Disturbed Heart. Having looked at a few people who missed that first Christmas, we have seen more deeply into our own hearts. We looked at the average heart and its many idols. We looked at the preoccupied heart of Caesar Augustus, and also the unaffected heart of the religious leaders. Join us this morning as we continue to prepare our hearts not only for this Christmas, but also for His second coming.

The Preoccupied Heart
When Jesus was born into this world, many people were unable to recognize Him. Their hearts were not ready to accept Him. Some were deeply disturbed at His coming. Some were too preoccupied with kingdom-building. Some were just plain too busy. How much like us! This Advent Season we invite you to prepare your heart to celebrate His birth.

This message will cause you to consider the many ways in which you limit yourself and by so doing--limit God from working miracles in your life.

Making Room
The discipline of fasting is not one that has been widely practiced in evangelical circles but is having a bit of a “renewal†in our generation. More and more we hear people and ministries calling us to times of prayer and fasting. What is this practice all about? Why was it so important to the Jewish community and what can we learn from this discipline? In our text this weekend, Jesus simply assumes that we are a people who fast, and challenges us once again to fast for the right reasons and in the right way. Key Passages: Matthew 6:16-18 and Isaiah 58:6

Am I Your Worst Nightmare?
Over the past 5 weeks we have been looking at the various aspects of our call and responsibility to reach out and care about other people in a more intentional way. The response from many of you has been very positive. We have become aware that this is not just a series, rather a life style. We have all become more aware of others that God sets in our way and have become more sensitive in obeying Gods promptings in this area. We have been learning to notice them, care about them, and love them. today as we close this teaching series we ask the question: As you reach out to others, who do they meet? Grander Vision Living
This morning you will hear the fourth message in the "Walk Across the Room" series. We were reminded in the first message of the single greatest gift we can offer people by introducing them to the creator and lover of their souls, God himself. We also heard about "living in 3D" -developing friendships, discovering stories and discerning appropriate next steps. This past Sunday we were reminded of the power of story with each of you invited to write your story and send it to mystory@maplecitychapel.com In today's message you will be asked to partner with God in the most magnificent mission imaginable: finding what is lost, restoring what is broken, and reclaiming what is His.
