Sermons About Samaritan-woman
Jesus Doesn't Play Hide and Seek
The woman at Jacob's well in John 4 has a life changing encounter with Jesus. It seems like the woman tried to end or cut short the coversation, but Jesus drew her out and got to the heart of this woman. Isn't it interesting how we try and play games with Jesus as if he doesn't know exactly who we are and what we are about? It's time to stop playing games and simply surround ourselves to God!

Third Sunday in Lent the Samaritan Woman
Third Sunday in Lent: Last week we looked at the Story of Nicodemus in John 3:1-17 and this week we will look at the story of the Samaritan Woman in John 4:5-42. Then we will compare these two individuals and observe how Jesus picks up conversation with them and relates to them in very ordinary ways as individual persons. Sometimes we think of ourselves as on a search, a search for God. Yet to tell the story of our faith in a more biblical way, we would have to say that Jesus is on a search for us; initiating conversation with us. He comes to us, often at the most surprising and inopportune times, often in the strangest or most ordinary places. He comes to us, speaks to us, and in the encounter initiated by him, we are transformed in our way of seeing God and the world around us. Join us as we explore our relationship with Christ this Sunday at 5:30 PM. The lectionary readings for the Third Sunday in Lent: Exodus 17:1-7; Psalm 95; Romans 5:1-11 and John 4:5-42.

People, meet your stereotype before it meets you
The Lectionary texts for today speak about thirst for life. The people thirst for water in the wilderness. The Samaritan woman at the well meets the One who gives the water of eternal life. Paul speaks of God’s love being “poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit.†The Samaritan woman didn’t recognize her need for “Living Waterâ€, instead we find a woman who is secluded to an island in her own life. Simon and Garfunkel in their song entitled “I am a Rock†express this idea well: “A fortress deep and mighty, that none may penetrate. I have no need of friendship; friendship causes pain. It’s laughter and its loving that I disdain. I am a rock, I am an island...I have my books and my poetry to protect me; I am shielded in my armor, hiding in my room, safe within my womb. I touch no one and no one touches me. I am a rock, I am an island. And a rock feels no pain; and an island never cries.â€
